Process, duration & diagnosis
How long does a cell phone repair take at Fixstore Munich?
Standard repairs such as changing the display or battery on iPhones and common Samsung Galaxy models usually only take 20 to 45 minutes in our workshop on Baaderstrasse. More complex logic board level work or water damage treatments typically take 1 to 3 business days.
Do I have to make an appointment in advance?
No, an appointment is not absolutely necessary with us. You can simply drop by the workshop during our opening hours. To avoid waiting times, you are welcome to contact us in advance by phone or WhatsApp.
How much does error diagnosis cost?
If you then have your device repaired by us, the diagnosis will be completely free of charge for you. If you decide against a repair or the device is irreparable, we will charge a small flat rate of €29 for cell phones and €39 for tablets.
Can I send in my cell phone while it is being repaired?
Yes, we offer a convenient postal mailing service. Simply send your defective device, well packaged, to our address in Munich. Once received, we will analyze the damage, send you an offer and repair the device immediately after approval.
Is there an express surcharge for quick repairs?
No. Express repairs are part of our standard service. If the spare parts are in stock, we will repair your smartphone immediately on site without additional rush fees.
Display & glass repair
What is the difference between a glass repair and a display replacement?
When repairing glass only, only the top pane of glass is replaced using special cutting and laminating machines. This is only possible if the underlying LCD or OLED panel still displays error-free (no stripes, no spots) and the touchscreen responds. If the panel is damaged, the entire display unit must be replaced.
Does Fixstore use original displays?
For brands like Samsung and Xiaomi, we install original service pack displays from the manufacturers. For Apple iPhones, we use high-quality displays in original equipment manufacturer quality (OEM) or refurbished original panels, as Apple restricts the free trade in new parts.
Why do I get an “Unknown component” message after replacing my iPhone screen?
From the iPhone 11 onwards, Apple links the serial number of the display to the logic board via software. If an independent workshop replaces the display, iOS reports this notice in the settings, even if an original part was used. This does not affect the functionality of the display (including touch and image quality) in any way.
Will the TrueTone function remain on my iPhone after changing the display?
Yes, we transfer the programming code from your old display to the new display using a special programming device (EEPROM writer) so that functions such as TrueTone and automatic brightness control continue to work properly.
Battery, charging & connections
When should I have my smartphone battery changed?
A change is recommended if the maximum capacity drops below 80% (visible in the settings), the device suddenly switches off in cold weather, the battery discharges unnaturally quickly or the housing bulges slightly due to a swollen battery.
After changing the battery, does my iPhone show the maximum capacity in the settings?
From the iPhone This is due to an encrypted chip on the original battery. We use certified quality batteries; the actual performance and lifespan are identical to a new original battery.
My cell phone no longer charges properly. Does the charging socket have to be replaced straight away?
Often the charging socket (USB-C or Lightning) is simply blocked by pressed dust and lint from your pocket, so that the charging cable cannot make contact. In this case, we usually clean the socket on site free of charge. We only replace the component if contacts are bent or broken.
Does wireless charging still work after replacing the battery?
Yes, the coil for wireless charging is located separately under the back cover and will not be damaged when the battery is changed professionally. We test this function after every battery replacement.
Water damage & data recovery
My phone got wet. Does putting the device in rice help?
No, that's a myth!Rice cannot extract moisture from the sealed interior of the casing. Worse still: the fine rice starch penetrates charging sockets and microphone openings and forms tough paste there. Never put the device in rice, do not turn it on, do not charge it and bring it to us as soon as possible for professional ultrasonic cleaning.
What are the chances of success in the event of water damage?
The success rate is around 70-80% if the device is brought to us quickly and no attempts have been made to switch it on. We open the device, remove corrosion residues in the ultrasonic bath and repair affected areas of the circuit board.
Can you save data if the phone is completely dead and won't start?
Yes. Using highly developed micro-soldering technology (chip-level repair), we look for short circuits in the circuits on the logic board, replace defective capacitors or power management ICs in order to temporarily make the device bootable again for a backup. We save photos, contacts and chats even if the case is seriously broken.
Is my data safe during repair?
Yes, protecting your privacy is our top priority. Your data remains untouched on the device. We do not require an unlock code for most repairs unless you require a full functionality test of cameras and sensors after the conversion.
Guarantee & Payment
Does the repair at Fixstore void the manufacturer’s warranty?
Yes, interventions by independent workshops usually void the manufacturer's warranty. In compensation, we grant you a full guarantee and warranty of 12 months on all spare parts we install (especially original service packs) as well as on the repair work carried out.
Does Fixstore provide insurance quotes?
Yes. If you would like to settle a claim through your liability, household contents or special cell phone insurance, we will prepare a written cost estimate including damage diagnosis and photo documentation. The fee for this is €29 and will be charged in full for subsequent repairs.
Which payment methods are accepted in the store?
In our branch at Baaderstraße 10 you can easily pay in cash, with EC card (Girocard), credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and contactless via Apple Pay and Google Pay.
